Accepting Applications for Facilitator(s) at Ad Astra Agile Learning Center

In session August - May | In-Person | LearnerAges 10–18 | East Orlando, FL

Are you passionate about working with young people in a learner-centered,

creative, and collaborative environment? Do you believe education should

empower curiosity, autonomy, and growth?

Ad Astra Agile Learning Center is seeking part-time Facilitators to

join our vibrant community. We serve self-directed

learners ages 10–18 through a flexible, relationship-based learning model that

values choice, creativity, and collaboration.

 About the Role

As a Facilitator, you’ll help co-create a space where learners feel empowered

to follow their interests, take responsibility for their education, and grow into

their authentic selves. This is not a traditional teaching role—it’s about

mentoring, modeling curiosity, and holding space for self-directed learning.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and leading at least one engaging activity per day based on

your interests and learner input (past examples include art, coding,

podcasting, poetry, herbalism, film analysis, improv, and more)

  • Supporting learners in setting and tracking their personal goals

  • Holding consistent community meetings

  • Collaborating with fellow facilitators to maintain a safe, inclusive, and

joyful learning environment

  • Practicing and modeling respectful communication and problem-solving

  • Maintaining basic documentation and family communication as needed

You’ll be working with young people ranging from upper elementary to high

school age, each with unique interests and approaches to learning. Days are

structured loosely, with lots of room for creativity and co-creation.

 Hours

Schedule Options:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9:45 AM – 3:30 PM (5.75 hours/day)

  • Prep Time: 1 paid hour of preparation for each workday

  • Wage: $15/hour to start, with opportunities for raises, added

responsibilities, and leadership roles over time

  • Start Date: August 2025 (flexible for onboarding)

Facilitators will receive onboarding and ongoing support in Agile Learning

practices, community agreements, and learner-centered tools. We’re here to

help you thrive in the role, whether you’re new to self-directed education or a

longtime advocate.

students, career changers, homeschooling parents, and experienced

educators. Above all, we value your ability to connect with young people and

hold space for exploration and growth.

  • Curious, adaptable, and comfortable in fluid environments

  • Respectful of children’s autonomy and natural learning processes

building

  • Open to ongoing reflection and growth
